Astronomy lectures and exercises will be conducted throughout the weekend as appropriate by your facilitator, Dr. Sanlyn Buxner. Sanlyn has her PhD in Space Science Education and teaches at the University of AZ.

The Small Potatoes music duo has been a hit on our canoe trips for many years. They hail from Chicago and have performed in concerts across the country playing everything from “Celtic to Cowboyâ€, a mix that ranges from country, blues, swing to Irish.

Geography Professor, Dr. James Dunn, University of Northern Colorado, will be facilitating this trip as you learn about the power of water, wind, and weathering in a western environment. Labs and field exercises will be conducted throughout the trip as appropriate. This is a private trip for UNC students taking the course for credit.

Away from all the city lights, the wilderness night sky is unbelievably clear allowing us to gaze at the constellations, Milky Way, and maybe galaxies beyond! We will have a Denver Museum astronomy expert, Dimitri Klebe, on this trip providing interpretation and evening entertainment.

This legendary gateway into beautiful Moab is Utah’s crown jewel for breathtaking scenery! Canoe past the renowned jagged spires of Fisher Towers and the panoramic views of the snow-capped La Sal Mountains. This exciting river, flavored with rapids up to Class II in difficulty has sandy beaches providing ideal camping and fabulous vistas. This 30-mile river stretch is northwest of Moab, UT.

Listen to stories of the colorful characters and circumstances that helped shape the western landscape as you journey through this exciting territory. Canoeing through red sandstone canyons and hiking in Dominguez Canyon with waterfalls and ancient rock art creates memories for a lifetime!
