When you canoe Utah, you won’t soon forget it. The White River, flowing westward 34 miles from Bonanza, Utah, near the Colorado and Utah border, has been referred to as the best canoeing in Utah. It is certainly the most remote wilderness area of any flat-water river stretch in the West. Few boaters have discovered the wild and secluded beauty of a Utah canoe trip through the White River Canyon.

Learn about the prehistoric people and past civilizations who lived along the rivers of the Colorado Plateau. Examine the rock art and structures they left behind with Denver Museum of Nature & Science expert, Michele Koons. You can also experiment making some art and native crafts of your own with guidance from our facilitator.

The star gazing trip has become a yearly tradition and sells out fast. It's a great way to make astronomy interesting and most of all FUN for all ages. Away from all the city lights, the wilderness night sky is unbelievably clear allowing us to gaze at the constellations, Milky Way, and maybe galaxies beyond! At the end of each day after paddling through red sandstone canyons, sample a variety of craft beers from the Boulder Beer Company, Boulder's first micro brewery. A representative will explain the differences between beers and how they're made. This trip is not only educational but tons of fun!

Join Denver Museum wildlife expert Ron Beane. Ron is a Zoology Department Associate and naturalist. You'll venture down the Yampa River, a haven for birds and a large variety of animals. Ron will share his knowledge and make the learning experience fun for all. The Yampa River is the perfect place to introduce yourself to canoeing, camping and the great outdoors. Open to the public.

During this Colorado canoe trip, you will be dwarfed by high walls of red sandstone and shale deposited during the age of the dinosaurs.
