One-Day Trip: An "Introduction" to River Canoeing.
This 10-mile one-day trip is an ideal introduction to river canoeing and a great warm-up to our multi-day trips. Or perhaps you’ve canoed before and would like to see a gorgeous river section that’s close to Denver. Your guides will give a safety talk and paddling instruction prior to launching. They'll also explain the different parts of the canoe and answer any questions you have regarding our multi-day trips and river canoeing in general. Includes lunch.
You will begin at the new "Two Bridges" launch ramp and conclude at Catamount Campground. Your trip will include spectacular canyon country northwest of Vail, CO. A stunning landscape of pine trees and multi-colored sandstone formations with some volcanic intrusions line this pleasant section of river that lies just 155 miles (2.5 hr.) northwest of Denver, CO. This section of the Colorado River features Class I flat water (Class I is very easy and Class V is very difficult). It’s also a great river stretch for trout fishing. If you want to fish before or after your trip, be sure and bring your fishing gear and license.
After your canoe trip, you might also consider a relaxing visit to Glenwood Springs and their natural hot mineral springs pool and vapor caves, located just 34 miles to the west. Also in Glenwood Springs you'll find the caves of Glenwood Caverns.
