Carboy Winery in Littleton, CO, is co-sponsoring this trip, providing two nights of wine tasting and education with a variety of their wines. Carboy is a unique Colorado urban winery working hands on with vineyards and winemakers from prominent wine regions around the world. They source high quality wine that is then aged further, blended, or bottled to make their Carboy brands. Your Carboy facilitator and Winemaker, Tyzok Wharton, has been following his deep appreciation for craft beverages and their culinary counterparts since 2005. He will provide insight into the Colorado wine industry, different grapes and the making of wine, and how to correctly taste wine and successfully pair it with food. During Happy Hour and the evening meal, Tyzok will feature some favorites and explain which wines compliment which foods.
Canoeing in Colorado on the Gunnison River will spark your sense of adventure with opportunities for hiking and exploring, floating in your lifejacket and camping along the river’s edge. During this Colorado canoe trip covering 31 miles, you will be dwarfed by high walls of red sandstone and shale deposited during the age of the dinosaurs. These canyons in the Colorado Plateau are truly magnificent and not soon forgotten. Massive cottonwoods stand on many river bends supporting the huge nests of blue herons, hawks and eagles. You may hike into Dominguez Canyon, Colorado’s newest designated Wilderness Area, one of the most beautiful stops on the river. Hiking into the canyon will reveal deep, cool swimming holes, waterfalls and many ancient Indian petroglyphs (rock art panels).
