One-Day Trip New for 2013: We've decided to calm things down on the Upper Colorado River and offer an easy-to-paddle section that's ideal for all skill levels. This one-day trip will begin at the new State Bridge launch ramp and conclude at Catamount Campground. Enjoy the outdoors with a day of canoeing!
Your canoe trip will cover a 15-mile stretch of spectacular canyon country northwest of Vail, CO. A stunning landscape of pine trees and multi-colored sandstone formations with some volcanic intrusions line this pleasant section of river that lies just 155 miles (2.5 hr.) northwest of Denver, CO. This section of the Colorado River features Class I rapids mixed with flat water (Class I is very easy and Class V is very difficult). It’s also a great river stretch for trout fishing. If you want to fish before or after your trip, be sure and bring your fishing gear.
After your canoe trip, you might also consider a relaxing visit to Glenwood Springs and their natural hot mineral springs pool and vapor caves, located just 34 miles to the west. Also in Glenwood Springs you'll find the caves of Glenwood Caverns.
