Colorado canoeing on the Gunnison River will spark your sense of adventure with opportunities for hiking and exploring, floating in your lifejacket and camping along the river’s edge. During this 31-mile Colorado canoe trip, you will be dwarfed by high walls of red sandstone and shale deposited during the age of the dinosaurs. These canyons in the Colorado Plateau are truly magnificent and not soon forgotten. Massive cottonwoods stand on many river bends supporting the huge nests of blue herons, hawks and eagles. Time permitting, you may hike into Dominguez Canyon, Colorado’s newest designated Wilderness Area, one of the most beautiful stops on the river. Hiking into the canyon will reveal deep, cool swimming holes, waterfalls and many ancient Indian petroglyphs (rock art panels).
For this trip, we are partnering with Colterris Winery for an unique and exciting experience. Founded in 2010, COLTERRIS is family-owned and operated in the Grand Valley AVA, Palisade, Colorado. The name COLTERRIS means “from the Colorado land.” Colterris Estate Wines will always be produced 100% from our family vineyards. Situated along the Colorado River, the high-altitude meso-climates and volcanic soils of our vineyards contribute to the rich color, intense fruit flavors and robust character that make COLTERRIS wines unique.
Colterris has a unique line of wines that are packaged in cans! They call this line "Canterris". What better way to enjoy relaxing on the banks of the river with a full bodied red or refreshing white and not worry about glass. Their unique approach is perfect for river goers which is why we are excited to partner with this innovative and reputable company.
